Open Avenues has been a mainstay in the Northwest Arkansas community since 1975. The program's genesis was based on the need for life enhancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Today, our mission centers around opening avenues of opportunity for our clients as we continue to provide life and job skills training, paid work opportunities, community employment, and transportation for people with disabilities living in Northwest Arkansas.
Our work center is a well - respected example of an employment and learning environment for people with disabilities. This is made possible by support from business and industrial partners who outsource work to meet their production needs.
Our Community Employment Program offers job placement, supported employment and employee -1st career pathways. We also serve as an employment network for the social security ticket-to work program. Through the Community Employment Programs, clients receive a career plan and support tailored to suit their individual needs.
Transportation is one of the biggest barriers people with disabilities face in achieving community inclusion. Our fleet of buses travel throughout Benton and part of Washington County to transport clients between their homes and our facility. We also assist those in our Community Employment Program with transportation coordination as they begin traditional employment.
